Bad News (open)

[Derik R. Locke]

Derik cupped his chin with a curved finger and rested his elbow in the palm of the opposing hand which laid across his chest. Maybe he was just not recognizing their faces. It is possible, Derik in truth of the matter was bad at remembering faces and names. Most of those who work for him get random nicknames of detective sidekicks, which ever one he can think of off the top of the head and it can change every five minutes.

“Do you care to elaborate?” He’d ask with as polite of a tone as possible.

[Claire Weiss]

"Not at all. My parents are the owners of The New Life Foundation. I'm to take it over eventually." She'd say, bringing her arms behind her and carrying a straighter posture.

[Troy Wilde]

"Exactly."

Troy points at her.

"That's why even trips to the beach need protection."

[Derik R. Locke]

“Oh! Right...” that made perfect sense actually. “I’m not usually from around here so I’ve only but recently learned of your foundations involvement with Metas and Non alike. Makes things difficult when the skies are grim with harsh bigotry and ignorance. Even if from what I’ve read you all have made some big differences in aiding the community with your dedicated workforce and advancements.”

All very big words from the eight year old but they all were true and genuine compliments.

"I'm pleased to know that even children are aware of us." Claire would say, sounding genuine as well.

"Thank you for your words. Actually, if it wouldn't bother you, do you think you might share with us what your ability is?"

[Troy Wilde]

That was definitely a lot of big words.

"...he's a robot."

Troy loud-whispers to Claire.

[Derik R. Locke]

“I feel less pain when I’m hurt even with broken bones and stuff. It makes me push past the normal human limitations.” He grinned proud of himself. “Your turn?”

[Claire Weiss]

"Fascinating." she says, sounding like she was deep in thought about the description. When the question would be returned, Claire wouldn't answer immediately as she sorted through something.

Then, like she was snapped back to the conversation, she'd smile.

"Ah, me? I can heal just about anything."

Somehow she managed to sound modest about it.

[Troy Wilde]

"Hard to hurt, huh?"

Troy snorts, shrugging a bit.

"As you can see, she works very well in a hospital with her abilities. And I'm strengthened by the sun itself."

[Derik R. Locke]

“That is very befitting no doubt. It’s a wonder people don’t appreciate abilities like that as blessings. I mean you already have a place for you but I kind of am starting to think of those that might not. Maybe it be good to create a place like that.” Who knows maybe Derik could try a business on the matter.

Derik snapped to Troy his face lit up in absolute excitement. “There was a girl like that when the apartments opened! Did you see her? I’ve had theories on how she was like a shooting star and how she lit up like crazy from the inside out. I call her Star Woman, she took on like fifty rioters with goopy knives and stuff.” His hands flew as he spoke, imitating his excitement highlighting the important parts.

[Claire Weiss]

"Perhaps there's already such a place." Claire would say, though her words were likely missed over the boy's excitement over Troy's ability. It mattered not, however, she was mostly musing to herself.

Claire's gaze would shift over to Troy at the description of this other woman that perhaps had a similar power to his? Maybe he has some competition in that department.

[Troy Wilde]

"Little boy. Look."

Troy kneels down.

"There is no way she's like me. I'm one of a kind, unique. Whatever she has, it's not the same whatsoever. My power is nothing like your crush's."

[Derik R. Locke]

Oh boy, and people called Derik pompous. “I’m not crushing, she was a real hero. Let me see you hold back a mob from having stabby fun times while others get to safety then I’ll be impressed.” Frankly when it came to their “superpowers” Derik’s nerdy little self was easily impressed.

Still that Napoleon Complex made Derik grow that same grin from before. Derik was not tall still, the crouching move made Derik think Troy must have felt pretty big. “Besides it don’t take a simpleton to know even those with similar Qi would likely develop and evolve the power differently based on experience and how the body reacts to said experience. Though I am sure you’ll measure up to your obstacles just fine.”

[Claire Weiss]

"That doesn't seem too difficult." Claire would note about holding back a mob. The way she was looking at Troy, she meant it moreso in his case. She's not quite certain she could personally hold back a mob through physical means.

She was better with words, in any case.

[Troy Wilde]

"Easily."

Troy smirks at Derik, still crouched.

"The next time I pick up a building with hundreds of people inside, I'll let you know."

Despite how potentially dangerous that sounds.
