Bad News (open)

[Derik R. Locke]

He rubbed the back of his neck and looked away and stared at the dirt a moment. “I was still a baby when we came over. To be honest this world is all I know. Other than what father tells me I have no idea what old world really was like. Some normies are mean about us but even amongst you all who knew a life without Qi I might have more in common with you than where I’m from.”

He thought to point out this maybe he’d thought to give his perspective and maybe that would make a difference. He really had not much a reason to think otherwise or motive to change another’s mind. But even with his cushy life having to not confidently trust those around you with the truth was tiring.

"Perhaps a good first step would be dropping the labels. Metas. Qi-users. Normies. Simply words that are meant to keep us divided."

Even still, she knew that even if children had known this world more than their own, the simple fact they were not from here was still enough to warrant the ire of others. Those that saw them as invaders. Like aliens from a different planet. A plague.

"You were still born with your power. You might not know the other world, but you didn't have the same life as the people already here. It's like those kids in that academy, they don't live like the people already in this city."

Troy shrugs.

"Just saying."

Derik almost heard two different possible thoughts on their matter. However it was growing increasingly possible neither of them liked the likes of Him simply based on where he came from. However one seemed more reasonable than the other. Further more he was disappointed and a little saddened to hear them disagree with his hopes of fitting in.

Still he liked clare’s idea. “Hm... that’s a good point one I don’t mind trying to practice. Still despite what you might think about us or how you see us differently, would you agree we aught to work together to better the future?”

Claire would tilt her head, looking confused.

"What I might think of you? Have I made you believe I did not see you as an equal?"

She thought she'd been rather blunt about her pro-meta and pro-unity stance.

"I am merely aware of the feelings of others. But to answer your question, I do believe those of both worlds should work together. It is why I am extending help where I can."

"I was just pointing out where that difference is."

Troy shrugs.

"Don't worry. I'm a firm believer in Claire and her vision."

[Derik R. Locke]

“Then that’s what is important.” Derik agreed. “Despite what we think our goals are similar in the end.”

[Claire Weiss]

Though Claire feels like he still somehow believes she thinks negatively towards him or 'metas' from his word choice, despite her refuting it, she just accepts his conclusion.

"I certainly hope so." she'd nod. "But I should be taking my leave. What I sought here is gone."

"I'm sure we can find it somewhere else."

Troy says helpfully.

"Take care, kid."

She did refute it and Derik heard but there was an impression of reluctance he caught through both of them more with Troy than Claire. It might only be a hope than a reality but there was more a stoic look to his face as his place was mentioned in their eyes. He wasn’t the same, in some ways he knew it but it felt less like they were accepting of him letting him know that.
