Bad News (open)

[Derik R. Locke]

“Eh... pictures and stuff to get royalties. You’ll probably be able to look it all up buuuut what you won’t find easily is that he’s from old world and powerful too. Eight years ago he picked me and my sister up and decided to care for us. He can see beyond what most people can and I usually I try not to be so open about saying his name.” Frankly it made him nervous about who he could tell about his father. Not in worry about the man himself but how others might perceive him without knowing the great person he has been to Derik and his sister.

[Claire Weiss]

"No name. Hmm."

Claire's a bit disappointed that this man remains a mystery, feeling like she'd been quite forward with her information. That was a pity.

"I suppose that can't be helped. I am happy that you were adopted by someone so...notable. Perhaps I'll meet him some day."

It's not like powerful people remained ignorant of each other for very long. In the business world at least.

"What's his name start with? B? Is he Beetlejuice?"

Troy hates mysteries.

[Derik R. Locke]

“Like I said you can probably look him up easily. I did tell you my name, I’m not hiding... still hypothetically just think about it... what might you do if you met the adopted son of someone who is frequently called “The Devil”? Hypothetically speaking...” Derik and his eight year old self might be wiser than most but then again it could be shown in a few moments where of course if we were speaking hypothetically then it’s obvious to his new aquatinted that they would not assume HIS adopted father was the very same Lucifer.

"I would inquire as to how such a man came to be called this." she'd giggle.

"Has he caused others misfortune?"

[Troy Wilde]

"That sounds like a horrible person, to be honest. Devils aren't usually called that because they're nice."

Troy points out.

[Derik R. Locke]

“Depends on who’s side of the story you believe.” Derik further pointed out. “But you know THE Devil, one many believe to have created sin, well at least one who channels that power and legacy.”

[Claire Weiss]

"Yes the Christian boogeyman." she shrugs.

"I've never been quite religious. I find it a bit odd your father would proclaim himself as such to you and not mean it in a negative way."

The people from the arc and orphans before them certainly enjoyed their fantasy figures.

"Channels that power, eh?"

Troy rubs his chin.

"I wonder if hellfire is stronger than the sun."

[Derik R. Locke]

Derik waved a hand in dismissal. “As I said old world power and difficult to explain, but it seems you passed my test. I can trust you’ll not judge too harshly, he’s much bigger and more powerful than anything else I’ve ever seen here.”

[Claire Weiss]

"Not at all a surprise. Until recently, no one here even had special abilities such a Qi."

Or so they say.

"It's been a real party since that world sent their people here."

Clearly it was voluntary.

[Derik R. Locke]

“I kind of considered you to be our people. Do you not think that is accurate?” Metas that have developed powered while being here Derik might have formed a thought about how they might feel outcasted and between different perspectives. A deduction that really never dawned on him until now.

"That is still a hope rather than reality." Claire says, giving a soft sigh.

"So long as people fear, there will be divide."

Troy opens his mouth to say something, then, for once, decides he probably shouldn't, and just stays quiet.
