Derik lost his smirk it wasn’t a display of strength he was trying to note. It was the valor the woman from before used her strength to achieve. Real, fantasy heroics in their quiet world, the kind he’d only read about in books and myth. “Do as you please as long as it’s to protect people. Maybe video tape it and I might display it on a Jumbotron. Make that viral.”
He looked to the lady. “Have you seen a program or job where they hire metas?”

He looks over at Claire as she speaks, nodding along. He fully trusted in her vision.

She didn't feel entirely comfortable recruiting a child to help with hiring processes, no matter how maturely he conducts himself. Claire also didn't feel like she could turn down his eagerness to help. Surely being something of a messenger would be fulfilling enough.

Derik pulled out a card of his own and handed it to her. It was a sleek dark green with black Cambrian font and a sleek lined border. The card stock is thick and I was feathered at the edges as if it was roughly pressed paper. “That’s my current contact information send me some cards if you have any that I might be able to pass around.”

“I’m a kid with money and I’m smart enough to make decisions on what to do with it other than buying candy and toys. I might be young but I’d like to catch opportunities that I feel could have an impact on my future.” He explained sticking his hands in his pants pocket there was a small crinkle sound from a candy wrapper he stashed away before.

A glare snapped at Troy hard that was a hard accusation Derik wasn’t fond with. “My Father is wealthy and powerful, and I’ve done some work to represent his company which in fact pays for things like my schooling and other expenses. I have very expensive tutors and studies but honestly it’s a good bit more than I need for even that so I like putting it forward occasionally.”
His tongue clicked behind his teeth and he looked away to the horizon all his scowl furrowing his brow hard.

She found it hard to believe someone would give a child a task that represents their company, maturity aside. Not a real one, at any rate. Seemed a little bit irresponsible.
