Answer reversal, apparently. Kiyr quirked an eyebrow at David's reply, but nodded.
"Family, be it blood or the bonds that run thicker. In the end, how people are family does not matter, just that they are."
Her gaze roamed to Leon.
"And you place the value of trust on them, but is there anything more?"

"No."
Was Leon's simple answer to her question. He had his family, betreyed by it once, left by it as well. Blood might as well be milk in Leon's eyes.
~No need to cry over spilt blood.~

With a nod, Kiyr redirected herself onto the path she had in mind.
Her eyes slid to fixate themselves on David.
This question was for him. She decided to continue with it.
"David. As it is your duty to protect the weak, as one of the strong, or to train them to become stronger... In a scenario that you must choose to save a member of your family that you do hold dear, or a squadron of Dragon members that you know well--friends if you prefer the term, both with potential and promise - but either choice having the cost that you lose your life in the process - which do you choose, and why?"
Life was equal, right? Now it was the choice of the lives of a few that were close and might be considered family, or one singular family member. Both were weak, but with potential.

He cocked his head to the left.
This girls questions pertained to nothing he had ever expected. They weren't really about the Dragons, what made them Dragons. She was interested in them. As people. Trying to gauge where each of them stood. Intimately. Why? These didn't help her in her quest to become a Dragon. She was quite the girl.
He crouched and looked her in the eye, staring for an uncomfortable few moments.
"Your a very strange girl, you know that?"
He would stand and look to Mathew, cocking an eyebrow.
Where the hell did he dig up people like this?
"With such parameters it's impossible to tell. In a battle? I would save the one family member, as the soldiers knew why they were there, and what they were getting in to. In sheer, senseless murder, but with a quick death, I may choose the many, as any of my family would gladly sacrifice themselves to save many lives from senseless killings, as it would be difficult for them to live thinking they were the cause of so many pointlessly lost lives."
He would point to her.
"I have a question for you, now."
He didn't know if he were breaking the rules, nor did he ask or care enough to ask.

Kyrie's gaze was unflinching as David crouched down to her level. If she was uncomfortable, it didn't show. Her gaze wasn't impassive, it was bright, interested, but not to an overwhelming degree.
Intent.
She had been called a tricksy little hobbits, and now a strange girl.
This worked, for her.
So she nodded subtly at Blaze, but remained silent to let him answer.
"It was presented as a no-win situation." To test his morals, his ideals. "No battle, perhaps not senseless murder. Just a simple choice, as your last one: one, or many. Both sides helpless to the result. It all rests upon your shoulders who lives on and who dies with you."
She stared up his arm as he pointed, her gaze upon his face. Slowly, unerringly, her head tilted ever so slightly to the side.
"Proceed."

David shrugged.
"Then the many. Again, my family I love, and my friends just as much. But my Blood would want it that way, and I would lose them anyway if I broke their trust in such a fashion."
He would stare down at her.
"You have asked many questions, of a detail that puts each of us in a certain...perspective. Without knowing our combat style, our strength, our power- who would you be most wary to fight right at this moment, and why?"
This question held a deeper purpose, though he was unsure of whether she would pick it up.

An interesting question to say the least, what would her answer be?

The blonde nodded her head, this time deeply, allowing some of her hair to spill over her shoulder. When she straightened, she listened intently to the question, eyes flickering as she considered the question and broke it down internally.
Her eyes left David after a moment, settling on Leon for a full minute, then upon Mathew.
What did she know?
She had them, each of them, in perspective, it was true. The questions she had just asked of them had clarified any misconceptions she had about certain aspects. But she knew their qi. Even David had shown his off. Earth. Air. Lightning.
Right. Now.
She didn't discount Air, not in the least, but David was reasonable. Thoughtful. Skilled and relentless as a Dragon, yes, but he had a heart, and he wasn't about to lose trust... She didn't exactly want to fight an enigma, but at the same time, there were worse choices.
Lightning. While, to be sure, his qi was powerful, and he could undoubtedly zap her within an inch of her life or beyond into death, and she had a slight taste of his strength, there was a possibility that Leon's motivation to fight her. If she could twist that in the right way, she could stand a chance against him.
Earth. She knew a portion of the way Mathew fought. And there was no way she wanted to fight the Kraken. She knew his ki. And really, she could find it useful to pit Mathew's power against either of David's or Leon's...
Right. Now.
They would all use everything at their disposal.
Kyrie stood, stretched her legs, paced around Rai in one circle, and sat down once again.
"I dislike pitting myself against an unknown power. I gauge situations and people before I move in. It is how I have survived since Barker's destruction. I can honestly say, that while I would prefer to not fight you for that reason, David, you are not my answer. Mathew I have some more experienced views upon, while Leon is in the borderlands between enigma and a small foundation of knowledge. But the truth is..." She tilted her head. Either this was going to be ballsy, or she was going to have her ass handed to her right here and now, "Despite the ego boost it would give any of your to say I would not fight one in particular, I would rather face three Dragons than one Kraken."
Her gaze flicked to Mathew, very quickly, and away just as fast.

Mathew's face paled at memory of what the Kraken had done. He might be able to take the Kraken. Maybe. But if he did it would not be a fight he would be laughing about. That was one scary mother fucker. And he was efficient when it came to killing. There would be no option but to put down the Kraken in that kind of a fight.
He just cleared his throat and leaned back. Trying not think about how he ripped in to that guys stomach and pulled out a kidney with his bare hands. Better left forgotten.

He stared at her.
"Just last question you pushed me to answer, though I changed my response to fit what I felt. Do you know why I ask you that question? It's not because I care about who in this room is strongest. I could step off this Dias right now, even if I were half the strength of either of these men, and pummel you both. I asked you that question to make you think of your own enemies, your own feelings regarding family. Regarding friends."
"Regarding the Dragons. You see, I simply wonder why either of you wants to be a Dragon. Is it because it's in your bloodline, and you desire to do good by your clan? Or is it because you simply wish for power, or a challenge, or revenge? I simply can't figure out why either of you feel you have what it takes to be in front of us now."
He looked to her.
Waiting.

Rai knew why he was here but it was her that he had asked directly and as such would stay silent to let her speak until he was spoken to directly.

. o O ( My apologies. Aryn has - literally - demanded my time, and I'd kinda forgotten about this... )
Kyrie was fully, keenly, painfully aware that at even half his strength, she'd be ground beneath David's heel. Despite sitting, she still sat straight, not intimidated enough to even begin to wilt beneath the pointed, drilling statements and questions.
"A challenge? Revenge? You could say that, but they seem - to me, at least - weak reasons. Perhaps a more apt way of putting it is I have nothing, nobody. And I have not for several years. I realize this story is not uncommon, but I have no family, and unless it is just to look after myself, I have no motivation except my own survival. I want something to call my own, something that I can obtain through my own hands, sweat, blood, and tears. And I am more than willing to give everything to get even a slice of that. Call it loneliness if you want, I do not care how you or anyone else labels it. What matters is I know what I want, and I am here to earn it. Family, to thrive, to reach and surpass my own potential. This is the place, you are the people, that I can accomplish this with."
She drew in a breath, staring straight up at David, though her voice carried for all, as it was all of them she was addressing.
"I need those of differing opinions, to myself, to the others, to be able to grow and learn from each of you, even though Mathew is, and will always remain, my primary teacher. You can not achieve growth with a narrow view, or one way of training."

David, before her response, was coiled. The air around him had seemed thick, and even though there was no wind in the building, his hair was lifting slightly. You see, David did not like either of these two. Not yet. He was more than picky about his choices, and himself had yet to name a single Dragon. Nobody had proved themselves enough him. Nobody stood in front of him and gave him a reason to pause. He listened to her response, and suddenly-
A hiss. A very small one, nearly inaudible. It came from the air that was around him, evaporating and vanishing.
His eyes would seem to soften as he turned his gaze away from her, stuffing his hands in his pockets once more.
Dammit. Here he was, ready to rip them both in half, and she had to go and impress him with a damn respectable answer. Now what was he going to do with all this pent up rage? He sighed, letting it slip. In fact, he was actually willing to answer more, if they desired, where as before he was ready to stomp a mudhole and walk them dry on his way home.
"Alright. Continue asking your questions if you must."
