We Meet Again [David/Open]

[Kyrie Blaze]

"Your guess is as good as mine, at this point..." But she held the same question, and more, and other concerns.

David's question drew her attention again and...she couldn't really move her shoulders in a shrug, but...her tone could hold the approximation of it.

"Then you do not."

There was more to it than that, but, she wasn't willing to push her luck at the moment. She adjusted her chains, coiling them against the ground so she didn't have to stab the earth each time she used them to take a step, but to make them into a sort of cinnamon-rolled shapes that would act as feet. She couldn't entirely believe that the cuffs were gone just like that...

David would turn and walk to her, scooping her up into his arms and carrying her toward the infirmary. The former assistant was, oddly, gone now.

Once there, David would lay her down in a bed and summon the doctor. The bed next to hers was filled, but had a curtain around it preventing the body there from being seen.

Well, that happened, too.

Instead of struggling against the sudden scoop and David's grip, Kyrie decided to go with the flow. Her qi chains retracted fully, and she bore the rather hefty discomfort in stride, without complaint.

When she was set down she sighed. She didn't know if her sister would be through with Damien or not, or if it would be another of the infirmary staff to deal with her.

Her eyes closed, mostly.

"I suppose you'll have to leave, considering you were summoned earlier."

[David B.]

"Mm. Try not to be too hard on my brother."

He'd stick his hands in his pockets, still feeling....incredibly odd without those bracelets. What was this tickle in the back of his mind?

Shaking his head, David left.

[Damien Blaze]

"Welcome to Cabal, Kyrie."

Damiens voice came from behind the curtain.

"I'd open up the cloth but....kinda cuffed here."

His brother?

The question that might have been asked was soundly answered a moment or two after Kyrie watched David leave.

A frown touched her lips and one bladed chain snaked its way out to draw the curtain slightly - and with care - to be able to look at Damien and raise an eyebrow.

"...well. Long time, no see." An eyebrow lifted in question. "Dare I ask?"

Damien lifted his hands, the cuffs clanking, as he shrugged.

"Indeed. Apparently I killed someone and tried to steal some shit."

He looked at her wounds.

"You uh....alright?

[Kyrie Blaze]

"That would do it. So it wasn't just my sister needing to keep you in one place while she screamed...but I suppose I gathered as much with the soldiers outside the door. I just had yet to hear why."

She took a slow breath, and winced.

"I am fine. I had a run-in with David...a challenge, or training, I suppose you could say, to see if I could cut off his hands to remove the bracelets." Her eyes flicked up to his again. "I still lack my former strength, so it is easy to tell who lost. But after...his bracelets were removed by Asiv."

[Damien Blaze]

Damien smiled.

"I wish I had found you sooner."

He took a slow and deep breath.

"Turns out we were wrong."

"...wrong about what, specifically?"

Well there was a sinking feeling if she ever felt it.

Damien crinkled his nose. God, he wished he could scratch it.

"David did actually agree to submit to Cabal."

He looked over at her.

"We weren't at the accords- but nearly half the territories intended to continue the war, since 259 was in possession of the Dragons, the 9 gates, and various other objects that put them far and above in military might. To assuage those problems, they required that at least two thirds the Elder Dragons submit to control."

He chewed his lip.

"Mathew would never. Leon accepted purely for the challenge. David was torn between the two. He could never allow himself to be caged like an animal, but if he refused, millions of lives could be lost. So...he agreed on the stipulation that his memories be locked away forever."

[Kyrie Blaze]

Kyrie tipped her head back so she could stare at the ceiling as Damien filled her in, letting the weight of it sink on her battered chest. Her eyes closed for a few long moments before she opened them again.

"...perfect."

[Damien Blaze]

He let the silence hang for several moments.

"We were partially right. They did hold his memories back. I am worried what will happen. Asiv must have taken them off because of the oncoming war. With so many breaking the accords, the Dragons will be loosed. I wonder though, if David will continue to serve Cabal."

[Kyrie Blaze]

"I suppose that will remain to be seen." She turned her head to be able to look over again, as her hands came to rest on her abdomen. She was tired, and the discomfort in her abdomen was spreading. Bruising at the very least.

It had been some time since she'd been muckered like this. On one hand, she was pleased, and on the other...well, she didn't exactly enjoy it, not that this was horrible by far.

"Will Cabal be worth siding with when the time comes?"

[Damien Blaze]

Damien sighed.

"A lot of my anger at Cabal has nothing to do with how it's managed. The problem has to do with the accords, and with Cabal's tendrils that seep into every territory. As a military academy, I think it's worth having. But it carries secrets, just like every facility of it's type. I don't think they'd let the Dragons go without a fight. Nor do I think that people think about it in the right terms."

He thought for a moment.

"People come from every territory to learn here, to grow through trial and fire. But they do so without questions- like what would have happened if they refused to come? Who is the real power behind Asiv's throne? Are we dealing with another overlord or is it really just different in all the ways that matter? I hope I get to stay here. I want to turn over a few rocks, and doing that from Territory two is going to be difficult."
